Principal Internship Scheme - An Initiative by MSCW

To enhance experiential learning, professional exposure, and skill development among undergraduate students, Mata Sundri College for Women is introducing an institutional-level internship programme titled the Principal Internship Scheme.
This initiative aims to provide selected students with an opportunity to work within various departments, cells, and committees of the college. Through this hands-on engagement, students will gain insights into the functioning of institutional systems, develop workplace discipline, and build transferable administrative, managerial, and technical skills relevant to their future careers.

Objectives of the Scheme

  1. To offer undergraduate students structured internship opportunities within the college campus.
  2. To familiarize students with institutional functioning, administrative processes, and academic management systems.
  3. To promote professional discipline, responsibility, and leadership qualities among students.
  4. To enhance digital, communication, and organizational skills through real-time assignments.
  5. To bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical exposure in an academic setting.
  6. To inculcate a sense of ownership, accountability, and teamwork in the functioning of college units.
  7. To recognize and reward meritorious and disciplined students with paid internships as a form of encouragement.

Scope of Internship

Selected interns will be placed in various departments, offices, and committees of the college, such as:

  • Administrative Office
  • Accounts Section
  • Library
  • IT and Website Management Committee
  • Placement Cell
  • IQAC Office
  • Research and Innovation Cell
  • Event Management and Student Activities Committees
  • College Digital Archive / ERP Support Unit
  • Other departments/committees as identified by the Principal

Duration and Nature of Internship

  • Duration: 6 months per cycle.
  • Weekly Commitment: 8–10 hours per week (flexible as per assigned department).
  • Mode: Within the college premises under supervision of designated faculty/office staff.
  • Work Profile: Administrative assistance, data entry, documentation, event coordination, digital content management, library organization, or other relevant departmental tasks.
  • Extension: After completion of 6 months, a new batch will be selected. Former interns may reapply, but no student may participate more than three times under the scheme.

Stipend and Financial Support

Each selected intern will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 for the duration of the internship.
The stipend will be disbursed on a monthly basis upon satisfactory performance and attendance certification by the concerned department/committee in charge.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for application, a student must:

  1. Be enrolled in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an undergraduate programme at Mata Sundri College for Women.
  2. Have a minimum attendance of 70% in the previous semester.
  3. Have a CGPA of 7.0 or above in the last declared results.
  4. Demonstrate good conduct, punctuality, and willingness to learn.
  5. Be available for a minimum of 8–10 hours per week during the internship period.
  6. Fulfill qualification required by particular department/cell/committee/project

Selection Process

  1. Application Submission: Interested students shall apply by submitting a prescribed Google Form within the announced timeline.
  2. Screening: Applications will be shortlisted based on eligibility, academic performance, and statement of purpose.
  3. Selection Process:
    • Personal Interview before a selection panel comprising faculty members .
  4. Total Seats: 5 interns will be selected per cycle.

Attendance and Academic Policy

  • The internship shall not carry any attendance relaxation or academic advantage.
  • Interns must manage their academic commitments independently while fulfilling internship responsibilities.
  • Consistent absenteeism or underperformance may lead to discontinuation of the internship without stipend.

Evaluation and Certification

  • Each intern’s performance will be evaluated monthly by the supervising department/committee.
  • On successful completion, interns will receive a Certificate of Internship jointly signed by the Principal and the Department/Committee Head.
  • Evaluation parameters may include punctuality, quality of work, teamwork, initiative, and professionalism.

Monitoring and Supervision

Each intern will be assigned a faculty mentor or office supervisor who will:

  • Define weekly tasks and expectations.
  • Monitor attendance and work progress.
  • Submit a brief monthly report to the Principal’s Office.
  • Recommend continuation or termination based on performance.

Implementation and Review

  • The Principal’s Office shall oversee the implementation of the scheme in coordination with faculty from multiple committees/departments.
  • The scheme will be reviewed annually based on feedback from interns, mentors, and administrative staff to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness.
